The European Commission will spend 80 million Euros of Aid to the Palestinians until the end of September

The EU Commissioner of External Affairs, Benita Ferrero-Waldner, announced that the European Commission will provide 80 million Euros of additional aid to the Palestinians through its international mechanism until the end of September. Speaking before the European Parliament in Strasbourg, Waldner stated that the international Quartet for the Middle East (USA, EU, UN, and Russia ) and the 27 states decided to extend the temporary international mechanism to provide assistance until the end of September. She said,” We sent a request to the budget authority in order to transfer 80 million Euros for financing its operations in the 3^rd quarter”. She added that the budgets of the parliament gave “consent “last Monday. The Europeans put this mechanism in June 2006 to be able to continue providing aid to Palestinians
