Spokesman for the Presidency: The suspension of the official institutions strike and the President of the Bar Council Bassam Zakarneh with the government agrees to pay 33% of arrears.
The presidential spokesman announced that a meeting was held yesterday between Rafiq Husseini, Bassam Zakarneh and members of the syndicate were at the end of the agreement suspended the strike which was called on the union to implement today.The spokesman said that this meeting came about from the interest of all parties to the public,and the progress of work in ministries and government institutions and also to continue its role in serving citizens. The spokesman added that the suspension of the strike has been agreed upon after the government was committed to fulfilling its pledges and obligations to pay all staff entitlements of financial arrears and tabulations guarantee their rights. The spokesman concluded his statement by thanking the various parties concerned, for their spirit of positive, and advancing the interests of the homeland and citizens, and to ensure the rights of employees, and the cooperation of the union council and its chairman who agreed to guide all public officials to attend to their jobs today in their ministries as usual. On his part, Bassam Zakarneh Chairman of the Association of workers in the Civil Service Council that the union decided to cancel today"s strike after agreement with the government. Zakarneh and added that it had been agreed with the government that the next installment month salary in addition to 33% of receivables remaining staff at a minimum and pay full benefits until 12-31-2007. Zakarneh and added that meetings are continuing with the government to discuss all outstanding matters involving the rights of employees. Between Zakarneh, the agreement was after several meetings with the secretary general of the cabinet Dr. Sadi Karnaz who showed understanding and quick response with the rights of employees. Zakarneh and that there are many things promised by the government to end the 50 thousand dues with paid staff next month and also consider the problem of living after the termination file receivables.
