Al-Quds Index increases at the end of January

In this week with four trading sessions, executing several transactions in Palestine Stock Exchange PEX on the leading stock of Palestine Development and Investment Company PADICO, Palestine Telecommunications PALTEL and Arkaan Real Estate ARKAAN in this week have raised the trading value of this week. Whereby, executing such transactions in this routine period may be related to repositioning reasons on specific stocks and sectors during the dividends distribution announcements period. On another hand, Al-Quds Index increase this week, closing in the green zone after trading in a relatively narrow range. On another context, anticipation among all investors’ categories increased during the week as the countdown approached the end of the legal period granted to the listed companies to disclose their preliminary financial data on February 15. Whereby, the next week is expected to witness momentum in the financial data disclosures and proposals for distributing dividends for the shareholders for the year 2024. It is good to note that Palestine Capital Market Authority has extended the disclosure period for banks listed in Palestine Stock Exchange PEX for the preliminary final financial statements for the year 2024 till 15/03/2025 due to the issuance of a law regarding the regulation of loan terms, installments and financial leasing payments.

Regarding the significant news, the listed companies accelerated to determine dates to hold their board of directors meetings in order to discuss and approve the financial and operational data for the year 2024. In this context, the board of directors BOD of Global United Insurance Company GUI, Amlak Real Estate Investment & Trading AMLAK, Trust International Insurance Company TRUST and Bank of Palestine BOP will be holding meetings on 09/02/2025. Moreover, the BOD of Palestine Telecommunications PALTEL will be holding a meeting on 10/02/2025. Also, the BOD of both Palestine Development and Investment Company PADICO and Birzeit Pharmaceuticals Company BPC will be holding a meeting on 11/02/2025. On the other side, the BOD of Arkaan Real Estate ARKAAN will be holding a meeting on 12/02/2025. In addition, the BOD of the National Carton Industry NCI will be holding a meeting on 18/02/2025.

Regarding the economic indicators and according to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics PCBS, the overall Wholesale Price Index in Palestine during 2024 recorded a sharp increase by 15.93% compared with 2023 (32.83% for local consumed products, and by 9.61% for imported products). The increase in WPI for 2024 was traced back to the increase in the prices of the following Division compared with previous year: wholesale trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles by 17.65% and wholesale and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles by 1.49%.
