Palestine Securities Exchange adjusts the sample of Al-Quds index for 2009

Mr. Ahmed Oweida, the chief executive of PSE had announced that the PSE implementing an annual audit for the calculation of Al-Quds index and the sample of the listed companies that are involved in the calculation of the index.  The adjusted index will be implemented starting from the trading session of Sunday 04/01/2009.At the beginning of the year the PSE had lift the number of companies involved in calculating the index of Jerusalem from 10 companies to 12 companies to reflect the growing number of listed companies, and to ensure the fair representation for all sectors in the market. Many variables are taken into account when adjusting the sample of companies involved in the calculation of the index, particularly the number of trading sessions that the shares of each company had traded, which reflects the activity of its shares, in addition to the rate of turnover of the share, the market value for each company, the number of transactions executed, and the volume of trading.

The sample of the of Al-Quds index in 2009, is composed of the following companies:

v          Industry sector: BPC, GMC and JCC.

v          Insurance sector: AIG.

v          Banking sector: AIB, BOP and AMB.

 v          Services sector: PALTEL and PEC.

 v          Investment sector: PADICO, PRICO and UCI.

 Where 12 companies were selected out of 37 listed companies as in 31/12/2008.
