Palestine securities exchange (PSE) held a conference on Tuesday, 22/5/2007, entitled

"Trading via the Internet and its impact on the size and depth of the market," at the Hotel Bethlehem. This conference is the first of kind on online stock trading service (e-trading) which was launched by the PSE last month.

The conference began with a welcoming speech delivered by Ms.Ruqayeh Eran, PSE public relations officer, which welcomed the attendees, and emphasized the importance of the conference, as the e-trading is aimed to support the Palestinian national economy by increasing the flow of funds to the market, and to show how much the PSE is working to meet the new technological  innovations.

Ms. Eran added that this conference is one of the components of the investment guide program which was launched in mid-2006, with the aim of raising the level of investment awareness and  promoting the investment environment in Palestine .

This was followed by a lecture on online stock trading service (e-trading), which was delivered by Mr.Ehab Khalidi, the IT manager at Sahem Trading & Investments Company, which dealt with an overview of e-trading, and its advantages of its speed of the sale and purchase orders, and the access to obtain market data directly, monitor the implementations, and follow-up business investments at anytime directly.

Mr. Khalidi pointed to the legislative framework of e-trading, and then talked about the most important guidance for the use of this technique, which must be taken into account by the investor, including the focus when doing the orders, and the main rules of e-trading, as well as to know the risks and returns on investment. Mr. Khalidi did a presentation on how to use this service using a practical model for the public.
